Knowit invests in security for SCADA systems and medical technology equipm

The venture focuses on supporting clients in handling IT systems lacking in normal security features. When traditional methods of cyber security can not always be applied to SCADA systems and medical devices work Knowit with compensating security. The service offering includes measuring security levels, designing networks with SCADA components and participating in business development, where security is a vital part.
– This is an area that we strongly believe will contribute positively to our client’s business, says Anders Olsson, responsible at Knowit Secure. The goal is not only to decrease the risks of operational lapses and injuries to people, but also to support companies in streamlining operations by connecting systems in a secure manner.
In early 2014, Knowit will organize a seminar on analysis and design of networks with SCADA components. The energy and health care sectors will serve as practical cases.
– Increasing consciousness among our clients as to the problems and possibilities of handling them is an important first step, says Anders Olsson, manager of this venture.
SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) are systems for monitoring and controlling processes. They are used in the industry, the energy sector and for building automation. Medical technology equipment, such as x-ray machines and dialysis machines, suffer from similar problems. They cannot be configured in a secure way and therefore instead must use the security features of the network for example.
