Swedspot, now part of Knowit, has long been a strategic partner to Standby. Throughout this mission, we have mainly supported them in developing the next generation of vehicle computers. The challenges that Standby previously faced were mainly making sustainable choices of technology, as well as a need for modern software development.
First step in this process was appointing an architect to design software based on Linux and develop the concept. Working closely with Standby's existing software developers, a team of embedded systems specialists was assigned. Using a scrum-based approach, development began to produce both platform and application software.
The partnership has for four years been instrumental in the development of Standby's new Linux-based Carat system, which is installed in all new police cars. The system allows the user to control various key functions smoothly and securely from a single screen. With our existing expertise in embedded systems, our role in the project has revolved around concept and architecture development, as well as application and user interface development.
The project has proved to be a highly valued collaboration and will continue.
