The assignment

During 2015, Brilleland were looking to give their business a digital boost and, to that end, they invited Knowit to participate in a competitive tender to find the partner best suited to provide that lift. The immediate challenge facing Brilleland was to upgrade their existing website to make it more modern and user friendly. Brilleland wanted to upgrade from EPiServer 6 to EPiServer CMS 8 while at the same time improving the website with a new responsive design. One critical element of the assignment was to enable the import of all products and automatically update the website. Knowit had the good fortune to be entrusted with the task.

At the outset of the project, Brilleland and Knowit created insight using web analysis. These insights set benchmarks for working on the new design as a supplement to the company’s existing graphic profile guidelines. With the design process underway, page types and blocks were defined and implemented in a new and more flexible EPiServer solution. After the launch of the new website, we carried out a number of usability tests and further optimised the website.

The result

With the implementation of this project, brilleland.no is now a responsive website on the latest version of the EPiServer publication tool. The solution has contributed to the more flexible management of editorial content and easier product information handling, which is automatically downloaded from Microsoft Dynamics Navision. This new solution contributes to Brilleland enjoying a website that works across all devices, makes the day-to-day work of their web editor easier and automates much of the work that was previously done manually.
