The challenge

During 2015, Interoptik – one of Norway’s leading chains of opticians with 69 shops nationwide – decided to upgrade and redesign their website using the EPiServer publication tool. The principle focus was on upgrading from EPiServer 6 to EPiServer CMS 8. The aim was to lift the digital platform to a higher level and make the website responsive. Interoptik needed a more flexible, modern solution that worked equally well on desktop computers, mobile phones and tablets. In addition, they wanted to automate their product information and renew their graphic expression, something which would make the work of the web editor simpler and more efficient.

The solution

Based on insights gained from web analysis and a detailed requirement specification from the client, we arrived at a new and user-friendly design for Interoptik. The design phase was carried out in close consultation with the client and ongoing dialogue with the developers. In parallel to this work, an integration was created between EPiServer CMS 8 and Microsoft Dynamics Navision. The purpose of this integration was to automate the maintenance of product information on the EPiServer. After this, page and block types were developed, content created and the solution underwent prelaunch testing.

The result

With the delivery of the project, interoptik.no is now a responsive website on the latest version of the EPiServer publication tool. Production information is automatically downloaded from Microsoft Dynamics Navision and the solution helps to ease the daily workload of the web editor. The design, which is updated and scaled to all devices, is clearly more flexible than previously.
