Member of the UN Global Compact

As a member to UN Global Compact, the world's largest sustainability initiative to strengthen corporate social responsibility, we are committed to actively working with sustainability matters and annually reporting the progress on our sustainability efforts to the UN. The membership also involves a responsibility to promote the 17 sustainable development goals and to work for the ten principles of corporate responsibility.

“Through our membership, we are showing our support for the UN Global Compact and committing to improve our operations so that the UN principles permeate our strategy, our culture, and our day-to-day work,” says Joakim Pilborg, Head of Sustainability at Knowit.

Here we make the biggest difference

It goes without saying that Knowit protects human rights, working conditions, the environment and fights all forms of corruption. It is something we have worked on for a long time. We have identified nine of the UN 17 global sustainability goals where we can make the biggest difference:

  • Goal 3: Good health and well-being
  • Goal 4: Quality education
  • Goal 5: Gender equality
  • Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy
  • Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities
  • Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
  • Goal 13: Climate action
  • Goal 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions

LKAB

Data platform helps LKAB to focus on sustainable mining

Contributes to UN goal 9

LKAB is Europe’s largest producer of iron ore and the goal is to have carbon dioxide-free production by the year 2045. With a new cloud-based data platform, a data-driven culture, and a goldmine of information, LKAB can make sustainable decisions that facilitate the green transition.

"Our ambition is to establish a new world standard for mining and to make LKAB the world's most sustainable mining company. A part of this is building a data culture and making sure we have a data platform enabling the transformation. Everything we do with data contributes to our ability to follow up on our sustainable goals," says Daniel Nordvall, Group Manager Data & Analytics at LKAB.

The 112 app gives 85 percent of users increased security

Contributes to UN goal 3

When every second counts, fast, relevant, and reliable information is crucial. Along with SOS Alarm, Knowit has developed the 112 app, which provides added security when lives are at risk, offering information about serious incidents.

"Through an agile design process, where all the important competences were involved at an early stage, we worked with Knowit to quickly identify a concept that felt appropriate and could be confirmed through user testing. The result was an app that the user will hopefully never have to use, but that can save lives if and when a crisis does strike," says Niclas Cholodov, product owner, SOS Alarm.
